Mobile environments present particular characteristics: portable information appliances are resources-poor, wireless networks have a low and variable bandwidth and environment resources change according to movements. We propose an adaptive distribution environment for applications in mobile context. We have particularly developed the dynamic adaptation functionality with an auto-adaptive entity model (specialization of possible adaptations and adaptation strategy) and the resources management and applications distribution functionality with an adaptive policy model implemented in five specific services (resource management (local or global), variations detection and notification, distribution, adaptations propagation control). A prototype, AeDEn, has confirmed the PIA resources savings and the applications performances improvements.
